Spring Primitive Wreath Tutorial

This is my first Blog and my very first post, so I wanted to share a little project I have been working on for spring and offering a tutorial for you to make it yourself. This primitive wreath is very simple to make and can be used from spring through summer.

Well....lets get started...

First, I cut out the petals out of "off white" felt and just lay one on top of the other to pattern them. There are five flowers on the wreath, six petals on each flower, so that is thirty petals. They are double thickness, so you will need to cut out 60 of them.

Here are all my petals cut out.

Now they need stitched together. I use crochet thread and stitch the two pieces together around the edges. Use any stitch you like, it's just for decoration.

Here they are all stitched around the edges...great project to do while watching TV. I then sew buttons to the center. I like black on these, they really "pop", but you could use any color.

Now I coffee stain them. If you have your own formula, use it. I just brewed a pot of coffee, poured it in a tray, dipped each one for 2 seconds, and then wrung it out.

Here are all these cuties all finished. Just let them dry over night.

Next I use a spring bush and pull apart each branch that is attached to it with brown floral tape. Each piece you pull apart has wire in it and it is much cheaper to use one large bush torn apart than paying for alot of smaller picks.

Photobucket
Now I take a plain twiggy wreath and use each piece of spring greenery I pulled apart and wrap each piece one at a time around the wreath. Then with a piece of wire through each flower, I wire each flower evenly around the wreath. I used a dap of hot glue on each flower to keep all the petals secured flat to the twiggy wreath.

And now all you have to do is "fluff" the wreath, hang it up and enjoy!

Check back soon, I promise to keep you updated with all the new pieces we make here at the store!
